JOHN ROJO
PERSPECTIVES IN TIME AND SPACE |
| A feature of this year's Tarra Festival program in Yarram was the exhibition by the exceptionally talented and imaginative artist and teacher John Rojo. "Perspectives in Time and Space" displayed the diverse range of John's creativity, a distinctive and unique style achieved through colour, texture and technique. | ![]() |

John Rojo is a rarity amongst artists and artisans. Whereas many are talented in one medium, Rojo expresses a broad range of talent across several mediums. He enjoys working with clay and his pottery is renown for its visual impact. Functunality is not a concern - Rojo emphasises shape and form as a priority. His sculptures are equally provocative, at times controversial, always displaying a vivid imagination and created with superb craftsmanship. His delicate watercolours seem incongruous amongst the ochre earthiness of his clay pieces, whilst his photographs demonstrate the artist's ability to appreciate shape and light. |
| "Perspectives in Time and Space" was held in the meeting rooms of the Wellington Council's Regional Office in Grant Street,Yarram over the Easter weekend, 1997. His work is on display in a number of Australian galleries, and also at his own showrooms in the beautiful Devon North region of south Gippsland, some 220 kilometres from Melbourne, just north of the Yarram township. |
